TechWorks (click for printable flyer in .pdf)
TechWorks is based on a model developed by EDC in 2000-2002. Using examples of Good Models of Teaching with Technology (GMOTT's) the instructors help participants see how technology can enhance a variety of curriculums and still keep the focus on solid teaching. Elements of Understanding By Design are incorporated with a wide variety of resources and tools that can be used immediately when returning to the classroom. This model can be run as a week long summer experience and can also be tailored to provide online followup throughout the Fall semester. Let us craft a course for your staff and district!
Instructors: Peter Drescher, VI Technology Integration Specialist and Eli Rosenberg, Science Teacher at Main St. Middle School.

Developing and Implementing One-to-One Computing

You have the funding from your school board, now how to implement a full program of One-to-One Computing. What are all the pieces we need to consider and how do we begin to build significant commitment from all of our stakeholders? Vermont Institutes is uniquely positioned to be able to provide much insight on where to place your emphasis in the first year. Ask us about providing consulting if you are considering the placement of full time access in the hands of your students.

Smartboard Use in The Classroom

These workshops are gaining in popularity due to the increased presence of the Smartboard in classrooms throughout the state. These workshops are hands-on, and Vermont Institutes can supply additional portable Smartboards for participants to work with. Topics can be tailored to fit specific curriculums and needs for schools. Best for groups of
10 or less.

Marco Polo: Internet Content for the Classroom

Vermont Institutes is a recognized state partner in Vermont. Peter Drescher is one of the recognized state of Vermont trainers. Marco Polo is a fantastic web resource for classroom teachers. We offer half and full-day workshops for getting teachers familiar with the site and allow them to begin exploring the many resources available. These workshops can be tailored for specific content and curriculum needs. Often Marco Polo Awareness sessions can be incorporated into a Smartboard training. Call Peter Drescher to schedule a session for your school or district.

Vermont Classroom Observation Tool Workshops

The Vermont Classroom Observation Tool is a comprehensive tool for the purpose of providing data on which decisions for program improvement can be based. For example, a school may identify and monitor professional development needs in technology integration, science or math instruction, or literacy program implementation. Vermont Institutes Technology Department has developed a program to help teachers and administrators implement the tool in a useful way for their particular needs. Relying on discussions of thoughtful pedagogy, sample classroom video-clips, and noted assessment work, learn how to best implement that valuable tool in your school or district. Call Vermont Institutes directly to discuss a workshop in your area.
