  • Tech Learning--the resource for education technology leaders

  • The Washington Internet Project (CyberTelecom) tracks all Internet-related legislation. The WIP also includes a Survey of Federal Grant Money available for networking and other tech projects: Federal Funding for Information Technology.

  • HotSpotList.com is a resource for finding wireless access points around the world. Thousands of locations are listed and new sites are added daily.

  • US Department of Energy Computer Incident Advisory Capability's Hoaxbusters page describes hoaxes and chain letters found on the Internet, discusses how to recognize hoaxes, what to do about them, and some of the history of hoaxes on the Internet.

  • The Trend Micro Virus Map displays information about actual virus infections detected by HouseCall, their free on-line virus scanner for PCs, and by Trend Micro Control Manager (TMCM), their central management solution for network administrators.

  • PC Mechanic--This site is a gold mine of information and reference materials, including tutorials, how-to manuals, and product guides. It's particularly strong with hardware and operating systems issues. You can post your problems on discussion boards, search through troubleshooting FAQs, and learn to be your own PC expert by checking out the site's numerous content channels. Plus, the site's news, reviews, and commentary make for engaging reading, even if you're not trying to rescue a computer.

  • FREE--Federal Resources for Educational Excellence
    More than 30 Federal agencies formed a working group in 1997 to make hundreds of Federally supported teaching and learning resources easier to find.marcopolo

  • MarcoPolo--MarcoPolo provides quality standards-based Internet content and professional development to K-12 teachers and students throughout the United States.

  • TECH CORPS® is the leading national nonprofit mobilizing technology volunteers into schools, offering tech support and teacher training. They offer high quality technological resources that enrich K-12 teaching and learning and prepare tomorrow's workforce.

  • How Stuff Works--with a separate section on computer stuff, which includes such fascinating subjects as "How DNA Computers Will Work," "How Routing Algorithms Work," and "How Interplanetary Internet Will Work." A really fun site to browse.
