THE
VERMONT MATHEMATICS INITIATIVE THE
VERMONT MATHEMATICS PARTNERSHIP (VMP) |
RESEARCH AND EVALUATION
Research and Evaluation is a catalyst for the growth, development and
evaluation of VI, its programs, and its partners. Our collaboration efforts
helped in the creation of VI itself as well as several of its centers
and programs, such as the Online Learning project.
TECHNOLOGY
VI provides a continuum of technology-related services. These include
consultation and professional development in instructional integration,
technology planning and implementation, program assessment, digital equity,
and distance learning.
EQUITY
VI Equity initiatives promote learning opportunities and equitable outcomes
for all students. Our consultation, professional development, resource
sharing, data analysis and networking help create school climates necessary
for academic and social achievement.
VERMONT INTERACTIVE
LEARNING NETWORK
The ILN is a state of the art video conferencing network that connects
Vermont's high schools for course sharing, professional development, curriculum
resources, technical assistance, professional meetings and special events.

LEADERSHIP
VI Leadership Initiatives focus on personal and professional support of
school leaders. We provide professional development, planning and facilitation
of administrative retreats and analysis of systemic structures and conditions,
often in partnership with other statewide leadership organizations.
NORTHERN NEW ENGLAND
COMENTORING NETWORK
This project, a highly-focused, content-based mentoring program
for selected schools in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, is designed
to enhance teacher leadership and the effective mentoring and induction
of new teachers in the areas of science and mathematics.
ONLINE
LEARNING SERVICES
VI offers asynchronous online learning and working spaces to groups, schools
and networks of educators to facilitate continuous learning, planning
and collaborative work. We help increase your outreach and effectiveness
with learners of all ages.
SCIENCE
To improve science literacy for all students, VI's science programs provide
Vermont's kindergarten through grade 12 teachers with exemplary professional
development for inquiry-based science, along with standards-based science
materials, instruction and assessment.
VERMONT STRATEGIC READING
INITIATIVE
The VSRI offers workshops and presentations designed to help upper-elementary,
middle- and high-school teachers integrate reading comprehension instruction
into all grade levels and all subject areas. Using the “Nine Strategies
for Reading Comprehension” developed by VSRI as a conceptual framework,
presenters combine the latest in adolescent literacy and reading comprehension
research with expertise gained from working extensively with teachers
and administrators in dozens of New England schools over the past five
years.
VERMONT SCIENCE
INITIATIVE
The Vermont Science Initiative is a professional education degree program
for licensed teachers of grades K-8. The program is designed to build
a cohort of skilled teachers of science who will serve as teacher-leaders
in delivering professional development to colleagues within their schools
and districts.
WRITE FOR VERMONT
In our knowledge-driven society, writing is the key to thinking
in all academic areas. The goal of Write for Vermont is to significantly
improve the writing performance and academic achievement of every Vermont
student in all content areas.
ASSESSMENT
Developing student assessments for Vermont Standards and new national
standards, VI also provides technical assistance in developing classroom
assessments, in interpreting and using assessment results, and in using
results to promote systemic change.
