THE VERMONT INSTITUTES' EQUITY GOALVermont Trainers from the "A World of Difference" Train-the-Trainers Institute, held in Montpelier July 7-11, 2003

is to promote learning opportunities and equitable outcomes for ALL students. "Equity" in education does not mean treating all students the same, but rather treating students in ways that encourage each to develop, learn, and perform at his or her best. It does not mean that everyone does the same thing, but it does mean that certain groups are not consistently excluded from or unable to achieve in certain areas, such as science, math, and technology.
